Exhibition

So, this morning I woke up to an email that informed me that I have been selected for an exhibition on the 10th September, at Reverse Emporium at Reverse Garbage, Brisbane.

The exhibition opening night will run from 6pm to 9pm that night at 20 Burke Street, Woolloongabba, Brisbane, 4102. This is easily accessible by public transport; either a train to Park Road (Boggo Road) train station, and a short walk (approx 3mins), or various busses to the P.A Hospital or Boggo Road Busway. You can also cycle or drive there, it is accessible from Ipswich road (Northbound ONLY) or Park Road, Woolloongabba.

The exhibition pieces will be available for sale, and viewable at the Reverse Emporium until the 22nd September 2011.

The exhibition is called Materialistic, and all submissions are 75% or more salvaged, recycled or pre-loved.

For those of you who don't know the wonders of Reverse Garbage; "Reverse Garbage Brisbane is a not for profit worker-run cooperative that collects industrial discards to sell to the community for creative re-use".* You can check out their website here.

I would love to see you there, so please save the date in your diary and come and show your support for local Brisbane fabric artists and myself.

Painting...

I have been in hiding for a week or so. I have been quite productive mind you...

It's all been about the logo and presentation this week. The logo is finally finished! Thank you so much to Alex for all his time and effort. I just tweaked it and added a few small things to it. I'm very happy with what he has turned my rough sketch into to.

Along with this I have been avoiding fabrics like the plague. This week I have been painting and sketching. I finished my first painting in over a year last night.

Other than that, I am working on the website, so finger's crossed that should be up and running fairly soon.

A Cloudy Weekend

I had a pretty great weekend, despite the dreary weather.

Finally made it to West End on Saturday, to take my deckle and mould back and I got taken to the markets too. Felt rather spoilt to be honest.

Got some new pastels as I don't have a nice green, and it is actually quite hard to do a landscape without a decent green, surprisingly enough.

When I got home I was greeted by a lovely new face with a bag full of goodies for me:

There's some upholstery material, some elastic lace, some cotton and more. I have a few ideas of what I'm going to turn these into, but we will see what I come up with....

--------------------------------

It didn't take long, I found a scrap of what I am presuming is curtain material and this is what happened to it.....

--------------------------------

Saturday continued to be great; my neighbour came over and got some more of her first ever scrapbook done, she helped me with the colour scheme on this notebook:

It's a little sketch book, with a permanent cover. The button on the flower fits with the button hole on the strap to secure it.

 --------------------------------

It was also a good friend's birthday on Sunday. For the last four years I have forgotten it, but this year (with a few reminders), I finally managed to wish him happy birthday on his birthday, here's the card I made him:

That's it for the weekend, Hopefully this week will be productive and I will get out a few of the designs I have been working on. :)

A Cloudy Day

Today I have sat inside and made the most of the dreary weather, I have been busy.

I have a Facebook page up now that I would love you all to check out, like and share, please.
If you can get it to 100 likes by 5pm next Friday (22nd July) (Brisbane time) I will give you all free postage for a week*. I will also make something to give away.

Other than that, you will see the little StumbleUpon badges on each post, if you wish to add the blog to StumbleUpon, click on the badge in the relevant post and like it once you're signed in to StumbleUpon. For those of you who do not know; StumbleUpon is a site where you can decide what interests you, and it will select websites and blogs that match your preferences. If you haven't been on it before be warned! It may cost you several hours of you life :)

I'm also now up on Blogoola, which is an international blog index where you can search for blogs by keyword or location.

I'm feeling a little geeky :)

Also I've had some hits from overseas, so hello and come say hi on Facebook.

*For international orders, I will reduce the postage to standard National postage for the week.

Sunshine In The City

I've only had my camera for a couple of weeks and I really haven't used it much. But I thought I'd take it with me on my quick trip into the city, if nothing else it's a reminder just how beautiful the city is in the winter.

The Beginning

Morning.

I finally managed to get up early and be productive straight away.

I cleared off my camera so I could photograph yesterdays efforts and I found this:

I love to play with the focus and nature is so beautiful. Little random finds like this make my day.

I am slightly addicted to making greeting cards at the moment. All the designs are original and mine.

All of my cards are made from a minimum of 90% salvaged or recycled parts, and many of them have a re-usable, detachable, fabric patch on the front. All you have to do after your special day is snip a few of the stitches, move the patch away from the card and tease off any paper/card parts.

They each have a unique colour-matched insert for you to write on and a matching envelope too. You can see all of them on my Things For You To Keep page.

I'd also really appreciate your feed back, you can email me here.

So, here are the cards I made yesterday:

I'm off to enjoy the sunshine. More to come...

On A Cold Winter's Night

I procrastinate far too much!

Here is my blog and hopefully it will help me to be productive everyday or it may well become another procrastination tool.

I will get my camera out tomorrow and share the wonders of Brisbane in winter with you.
